Based in Yeovil, Somerset south west England the band plays a wide repertoire of popular music from the 1930s to the present day in big band style.

The band was founded by Alan Brown in 1976 as the 'Preston Youth Big Band'. Ten Years later it grew up and changed its name to ‘The Wessex Big Band’.

Although the majority of the band is made up of amateur musicians, it is renowned for its enthusiastic and entertaining performances throughout southern England and has previously toured Europe and the USA

Today the band is lead by Seth Nordin and the band continues to grow and entertain people of all ages.

We have an impressive catalogue of more than 300 music scores from which an optimum program for your event can be selected. A typical program of music caters for all musical tastes and typically includes big band standards made famous by Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Count Basie etc together with a selection of popular and contemporary music. In addition we have a vocalist to provide contrast and variation to the program.
